Updating GIST through the Online Store

There are a couple necessary steps in order to download and install the most recent version of GIST. Please remember that if you have updated the software in the past that the process hasn’t changed and the update is in the ‘My Downloads‘ section.

1. Sign on to your GIST Online account with Username and Password. If you have never created an account please go the ‘create an account’ link and complete the fields provided. If you have your registration which code found on the back of the CD-ROM please provide it.

2. If you received the GIST software as a CD-ROM and have never updated the application through the website, you will need a promotion code in order to access the most recent version. To get a promotion code, please send an email to info@gistplan.com that includes you name, email address and your registration code(only applicable with CD-ROM). We will respond back as quickly as possible with a code and instructions on where to use it on the website.

3. Once the GIST software is in the ‘My Downloads’ section of your GIST Online account you are now ready to download. Under Product find the GIST software and select the appropriate operating system button, MAC or PC.

Please note: GIST is the application which runs the templates (i.e..Concept Comparison, Question Exploration) and that downloading and installing the templates before the application will result in a failure to launch the program files.

4. After you have downloaded the application start running the installer. The installer should take less than a minute to complete. Many times the installers are saved to a location on the computer(desktop is common). Please know the installer must be completed for the new version to take effect. Also, if the previous GIST application is open when installing, save any work and exit out of the program so the new version can take effect.
